Woolish
March 7th, 2010 / wk / Looks like art, Type / black, brick, red, stencil, white / No Comments »Walking in the side entrance of the Guggenheim for the Animal Collective and Danny Perez performance-thing “Transverse Temporal Gyrus” last Thursday, I was pleased to see what could have been a Christopher Wool installation in the service hallway. I liked thinking that it might have been an initiative of the Guggenheim to have commissioned one of Wool’s language-based black & white pieces for the exclusive pleasure of their employees and caterers.
A couple of things worth noting after a close look: the upside-down letters: both S’s and the last N in “STANCHIONS” and the use of the mortar line as the baseline for the letters.
